A few weeks ago I had the chance to be in a FPme shoot with some lovely Free People Atlanta ladies. These photos were shot at the Big House on Ponce which is a Air B n B / performance venue. The house is filled with amazing art and the backyard has chickens. It was a great setting for this shoot.
I am very lucky to live in such a beautiful city. I only had to drive a few minutes to this beautiful field. (it is actually the back part of a rugby field). Right before I shot these I was looking at some of my favorite art by Kees Van Dongen and Gustav Klimt. I have also been studying the work of Paul Poiret. I think that those influences came out in these photographs. I really like wearing this dress. Clothes really are like armor for every day life. It is amazing how a dress can make you feel. Or how you can be transported to a time or place by putting on a particular outfit.
I went on a thrifting binge on Saturday and I stocked up on scarves to wear around my neck. This is one of my new ones. These photos are from Sunday... I was so excited to watch the Mad Men series finale and I think I was channeling Peggy when I was getting dressed. The old fashioned's pictured above were also in celebration for the finale.
As I mentioned previously I've been challenging myself more with my style and posts. I also plan to have more writing posts in the coming months. I've been brainstorming things I would like to talk about. And concept posts!
I have admired Loulou de la Falaise's style for a long time and I love the way she layered jewelry and could wear turbans. I had her in mind when I was styling this outfit. I was also inspired by the Free People May catalog.
I had so much fun shooting these the other week in Atlanta. It was so much fun exploring parts of the city that I had never been to! A special thank you to Alexa (pictured above) and to Dawn for taking these photos.
